VSPDT has partnered with Family Paws Parent Education (Dogs & Storks, The Dog & Baby Connection) to offer VSPDT members discounts and exclusive  access to one of three scholarships each year for free membership in both of FPPE’s flagship programs.

Family Paws Parent Education (FPPE) offers programs, education and ongoing support for dog trainers on dog and baby related topics.  Many dog trainers are intimidated by this dynamic duo and our goal is to increase their confidence through ongoing education. VSPDT and FPPE are a great fit to work together as we both have the goals of positive and qualified professional dog trainers.  With this in mind, VSPDT trainers are eligible to receive pre-arranged discounts for several aspects of FPPE programs and/or win free scholarships annually.

 

Dogs & Storks and The Dog & Baby Connection

These two well-known programs provide excellent opportunities to get information and education into the community while building confidence in dog and child dynamics.   Dog trainers often feel frustrated and overwhelmed with dog and baby situations.  Sadly if there is not enough support or expertise the dog ends up paying the price and off to the shelter they go.  These programs are intended to decrease the number of dogs surrendered to shelters and rescues due to the arrival or anticipation of a baby. FPPE and VSPDT are equally passionate about educating BEFORE something happens. FPPE offers a toll free hotline for parents and family members who are struggling to help get them the resources that will be dog and baby friendly.  These programs provide depth education and ongoing support for all Dogs & Storks and Dog & Baby Connection presenters and the families they support.

• VSPDT members are eligible to receive a $150 discount off the regular price for the duo license (covering both Dogs & Storks as well as The Dog & Baby Connection). To be eligible to win one of the scholarships, please write a brief (under 250 words) essay detailing why you would like to be considered and how it would help your business. Email your essay in the body of the email (no attachments) to [email protected] before August 30th, putting the text ‘FPPE Scholarship’ in the subject line. Winners will be notified via email.

 

Mentoring to License (M2L) Program

The M2L Program consists of 13 weeks of course work and covers important topics relating to the dog and baby dynamics.   Each week includes a one-hour class (conducted online by Jennifer Shryock) with assignments, mentor-student collaboration and action steps required during the week.

After successful completion of Program, each student officially becomes a licensed presenter.  As with all licensed presenters, they will become authorized to share FPPE programs (Dogs & Storks and The Dog & Baby Connection) with their community and clients, become part of our large network of dog training professionals, will be able to market themselves as having a dog and child specialty and will be associated and supported by a widely recognized and highly endorsed international organization.

The normal cost is $75 per class plus $650 licensing fee ($1625 total).
